Curriculum

CGCE and the Canadian Teachers' Federation have produced curriculum materials on Education Rights and the EFA Goals as part of its annual Global Action Week campaign.

By implementing the CGCE curriculum activities, you will help your students to:

  • Increase their understanding of the importance of education in Canada and developing countries. The issue of education is one that children understand and can relate to. It is also an issue which can easily lead to broader discussion of a wider set of issues.

  • Increase their awareness of the situation of children in developing countries and Canada’s role in the development process.

  • Become critical thinkers. The curriculum materials are designed to build upon what children already know and help them to think critically about education rights. Making connections between these global issues and local issues of educational access and quality is also important.

  • Become active citizens by joining their voices to demand a better world for children. Advocacy organizations have long understood that children identify with the needs and rights of their peers around the world.
